What happens after someone submits?
A successful form submission should leave both sides knowing what happens next. Before building the form, follow one request through the handover.
Give each request a destination, an owner and a visible next step.
Follow one request
Imagine a small studio receiving a project enquiry. The visitor shares a goal, an example and a deadline. The confirmation explains that the studio will review the brief. The team receives the same details, with a clear owner and a link back to the request.
Decide where each detail belongs
Keep the contact details with the enquiry and the project requirements with the brief. Agree which system is the source of truth. If a CRM or workspace is involved, map the fields and decide how updates are handled before connecting it.
Design the difficult handovers
A person may submit twice, correct their email or lose their connection. Decide how to recognise a repeated request and how they can recover. When a destination is unavailable, show an accurate status and give the team a way to finish the handover.
Continue with the context intact
A report or customer workspace should use the submitted brief as its starting point. Let people correct their answers and see what changed. Add the next action beside the relevant information: review a suggestion, supply a missing detail or discuss a proposal.
